Scratch Programming Camp at Marinwood Community Center

Lesson 1Certified Mac Consultant Ward Bouwman will be teaching MIT's award-winning computer animation program, Scratch, once again at the Marinwood Community Center in San Rafael, California.  Scratch is designed to engage kids artistically and logically as they create animations through project-based learning.  Through Mr. Bouwman's instruction, kids in Computer Animation 101 will learn to create an animated greeting card, game, storybook, or music video before the end of the 4-week course. Working with two students per Mac, Mr. Bouwman will teach basic programming skills in a fun and supportive environment.

Mr. Bouwman will also offer Computer Animation 201 for kids who already took Computer Animation 101 and want to take projects to the next level.  Students can bring their own projects and receive oversight and direction, or take on a new assignment that challenges them further.  Students will learn how to build a game with their own graphics and sounds. In fact, once their project is finished, they can not only upload their projects to the MIT website to share, but also continue to work on it from home on their Mac or PC.
